Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
So its the first time ive tried this kind of shot... with shutter speed of about a second on running water, I ended up changing most of them to black and white as I liked the look of them better, but other than that ive not realy done any other post proccesing! (this is a huge development for me!) I like them... but feel free to rip them to shreds! I can take it!... your comments and advice are always appreciated! ;)

#1 and #2 are pretty good...I haven't tried these shots yet, but I didn't realize it was so short for time...one second you say...sweet! That sound's do-able...Thanks for sharing these...

#3 and #4 have a blown sky as part of the frame that prevents me from liking them...#3 is the better of the two compositions...#4 is bin material...kinda like most of my 50,000 photos...scrap heap fodder

Thanks, yea, 1 second... you will definatly need a tripod.. and some wellies!

I've got a really nice tripod...just no cool rivers for the most part or falls...I do live towards the mouth of the Mississippi...but its mostly a stream up here...no huge mountains to pull it down for the most part...but I will keep looking for something...btw...I can almost do a one-second handheld even with kinetic tremor...

I wish we had water around here to do this!!! lol! Great job!

In the B&W photos, it's hard to make out the details in the shaded or darker areas of the photos.

I like the #1,2. I assume you used shutter priority and set it at 1sec. How about the focus and VR? To such flowing effect, shall I use manual or AF and turn off VR?

One more question might out of the topic. I tried to post pics from flickr by coping the URL on the reply box(in the testing thread). All I see is a link, and I have to click the link to open another window. Is there any way to post pic directly on the TPF.

Yes I used shutter priority, and auto focus, by VR do you mean vibration reduction? I think its called something else on my camera, and I didnt touch that, I did take about 25 shots of the same thing before I got the correct exposure vs the effect I was looking for so it was alot of trial and error!

you cant post directly to photo forum but I use photo bucket to post pictures and you just copy the img code and paste into a thread, there is some sticky tutorials on here giving you step by step guides on what to do, I had to use them.

Try this link :)

Great shots! I like the second one the best, simply because I am a bigger fan of color photography :) I tried shots like this the other day for the first time, too. It was a huge waterfall in North Carolina that I shot. I think I left the shutter open 1 second as well, and it turned out fairly well. I didn't have a tripod though, so I had to rely on some handrails for a steady shot. Not ideal, but it worked. But again, great shots!

*continues to live in western norway with rivers and small mountain streams just outside my door*

I happen to like the composition in 4, or at least the idea. Having a little foreground interest adds to the "story" told by the photo. Rock might not be the best option, some leaves, flowers, monkeys...

I'm waiting for my tripod to arrive. Of course, this being me, I managed have it delivered to my student address, on the other side of the country!!

Yes, an image stabilization system (Sony SteadyShot).

Unfortunately your Sony has it in the camera body, not in the lens like Nikon VR or Canon IS is.

I was going to say they don't look as if you used a tripod because they are soft, was it windy ?
