I guess the first question is - where did you take this picture? If you took it in and around Sudbury, then it is most likely a Great Blue Heron - possible a juvenile(?). Grey herons are native to Africa, and temperate Asia and Europe - Grey Heron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The only stork in North America is the Wood Stork and it is found only in the extreme southern parts of the US, particularly in Florida, and parts of Mexico - Wood Stork, Identification, All About Birds - Cornell Lab of Ornithology . I hope this helps with the ID.

Thanks WesternGuy, I'll will look it up once I get back to my computer.
This was actually taken in Amsterdam and when I was looking online, it looked more like a stork to me than a heron, but then again I'm not the most familiar with these birds. I'll consult your links to find out though.

Edit: After looking on your Wikipedia link, they do mention that the Grey Heron is ever present in the Amsterdam area so I think it would be safe to say that it's a Grey Heron. Thanks for the link.

Love everything about this, very nice Lee!

Thanks Judi!

You are welcome for the link - glad I could help and yes, if it was Amsterdam, then a Grey Heron it is. Thanks for clarifying the location.
