I suspect what you have are not ladybugs but the nasty Asian Beetle Asian Lady Beetle Infestation of Structures | Entomology . Swarms of them is fairly common. They infiltrate every little nook and cranny to find their way into your house. They stink if you crush them (which is why they don't have many predators), and lastly they bite.

Breeding season, I've seen a whole big stretch of shoreline at a lake covered in them.

@smoke665 I think you're right. Thanks very much for the information! I never knew there were ladybug imposters.

They are a serious problem for us. They swarm anything white and leave yellow trails. It's virtually impossible to keep them out of the house, insecticide won't faze them. Vaccuming them up is all you can do. Whenever there's a hard freeze the ground next to the foundation will be covered in a layer, where they fell out from under the siding.

Interesting. These are at my sister's place-out on the property. I don't know if they have a problem with them in any of the buildings.

And...they bite.

Cool photo though!

They also embed themselves in dogs mouths and cause all kinds of trouble. So strange!

I've heard that but never seen it. Always wondered if it was urban legend. One thing not legend is how nasty these little critters are. To add insult to injury, we've had to deal with the stink bugs this year also. I was actually hoping we'd have a month of really cold weather to freeze a few of them out.
