The last century has seen one of the darkest and saddest times in human history. The years of World War II were an age of murder, betrayal, loss and fear, countless innocent people from nations all over the world found a cruel and untimely death in a war that has never been theirs. They were forced to sacrifice their lives for a sensless and murderous cause conceived in one mad person's mind.
This photograph shows a monument in Munich, which was erected to mourn and commemorate those innumerable faces that had perished during these years and to set a landmark for the generations to come: never forget what had happened between 1939 and 1945.

Actually, it was conceived in a lot of murderous people's minds. And murderous is putting it lightly. And I wouldn't exactly call it a sacrifice, though I know what you mean.

In other news, good shot but I'd like to see more shadow detail.
