This was a remarkable winter in northern Indiana, mild would certainly be true. Of course there were those annoying cold snaps. Following a few days of sun and 50 to 60 degree temps, a cold front brought snow. Not just any snow, but those quarter sized flake that you know will only last a short time once the sun come out.

In this case, it was long enough to capture these scenes, during my dogs obligatory trot though the woods.

I wish the tonal rendition and contrast of photos posed on the web, were a better.
 
Yes, shooting snow with sunlight and shadows is near impossible.
