Advice on weather to keep current cameras

Hi, I'm new to photography but looking to take it more seriously. Inspired by my newborn and how expensive it is to have a photographer to get those newborn shots.

I currently have an olympus e620 and epl2.

Im looking for advice on weather to invest in better lenses or to invest in a Nikon or cannon. I'm interested in family/children photography for my own family and possibly venturing out to do it as a side job/hobby for friends and such.
