Wouldn't it be better in colour ? There is too much indifferent grey tones in this picture crammed together.

I like the way the white shirt popped. Lately I've been shooting with the camera set to BW. Not sure why but I love bw photos. Sometimes I find bw movies more appealing too.


Ill throw the color up when my laptop decides to cooperates...has a crack in the motherboard preventing it from charging

No the tonal range is fine.

I do however think that the composition could be helped by some cropping. Cut off the sliver of land at the top of the frame and most if not all of the cement slab at the bottom of the frame.

I can only speak for myself, but I feel that I have much better success when I actually keep the camera in color and do B&W in postprocessing with either GIMP or Photoshop. You will be amazed what you can do with the channel mixer / B&W adjustment layers. I'm a bit of a newb myself ... but FWIW, I keep my D3200 in JPEG+RAW mode and work on the raw (NEF) files whenever possible.

I agree about the cropping. Less concrete ... and if we're going to have the trees in the BG, then let's have them, and a little sky as well. Good on ya for keeping the boy in the left 1/3rd of the image, and not doing a "bullseye"
