These pups were not easy to photograph! They have so much energy and rarely stop for a moment. They belong to my good friends, and a few of these dogs finished the Iditarod twice.

The lighting conditions weren't completely ideal; in some of the shots I couldn't help but blow out the highlights a little bit in order to get everything else well exposed. Either way, I like them, and I love these dogs!

Also for anyone interested in checking it out, my good friend Angie has finished the Iditarod trail twice, and CNN gave her a GoPro to document her first time. If you would like to see some of the footage from her 12 day race you can see it here: Wild 'ride of my life' in Alaska - CNN.com

They're pretty dogs, did you try spot metering? May have been able to keep the dogs well exposed while keeping the background under control. Works well for flowers where you want the background darker and the flower correctly exposed, may work for this kind of shot too.
