Hello! This is one of my first decent close-up pictures of a bird. :D
I'm very new to photography and loving it so far. Let me know what you think! :)

Welcome to the group and photography! Its nicely exposed and good contrast with the background. IMO, nature subjects lose a little something when you don't get a good look at the eyes (or single eye from a profile angle).

Looks pretty good. The bird is kinda awkward in the shadows. There is a lot of empty space on the right side of the frame....contrast could be improved a little in my opinion. It's generally a awkward angle...looking up at the bird. Good detail though. In general....I like it very much. Good start for sure

Thank you very much for the feedback! I realized the bird was a bit too dark, but it was up in a tall tree and I couldn't do too much about it.

If the subject is the bird it's underexposed. The background is properly exposed but the subject isn't. There is also a lot of background that adds nothing to the image.

How do you think this revision looks?

Don't be afraid to try the flash on your camera in a situation like this. A bit of fill flash for your subject can be just the thing you need to really make this work out well.

Okay! I'll be sure to try that next time then, thanks for that bit of info. :)
