Agreed, love the overall scene and peaceful sense of the second photo.

In the first photo, there's something weird going on in that tree in the center and the treeline just to the right of it. It looks like some small white clouds on first glance--but it seems like those clouds would have the same color tinge as the ones above them as the sun sets.

The first photo, I was tinkering with the grad-filter tool in lightroom. The grad line was right on the tree line...I know it looks off. I should probably adjust it's settings because it doesn't look natural.

Now that I reset the photo to the original, the clouds still look similar. I think it's due to the HDR function I used in-camera.
Overall, though, I never really liked the composition.
