Amsterdam Street Scene

Taken on vacation in Amsterdam many years ago. I believe I used a disposable film camera and this is a scan of the pic.

yeah i see what you mean. my wife said she didn't like it either. is this one any better as far as a street shots go?

It is a lovely street and a nice shot, you could lose some foreground here, probably half of it - there is nothing but the pavement here. Nice city shot but not the street photography as I am concerned. There is almost nothing happening here, nothing is going on, so it is more of a cityscape.

I think they might have been better shot a little tighter. What's interesting in the first one is the way some of the people are standing on each side leads the viewer's eyes to the marionette(?) in the center. But the other people off to the right seem to just make for distractions, they don't really seem part of the scene.

The second seems to have a lot going on, with a somewhat awkward moment captured (what are the people looking at? it might have been better to wait til they started walking again and that guy in the middle of the road moved on). I've found doing events that it can sometimes be timing, and waiting and watching as I frame a scene and people move in and out of the viewfinder, til I see whatever looks like a well balanced interesting composition.

The first one I actually kinda like, the people draw the viewers eyes towards the puppet. but it would be better if it was cropped, remove the right side infront of the man in the brown coat.

The second photo doesn't do anything for me seems like a snap shot of a street.

With the first, there are a couple things that interest me ... there almost seems like a "V" of people that draw me to the puppet stage, and then there is the stance of the woman in the pink shirt which is intriguing to me.

The second, I have to agree, seems like a mere snapshot.

The second one is in Old San Juan Puerto Rico. There are a lot of great photo ops there but according to comments I didn't get one. Lol.
