To be honest and clear, for a Philistine like myself, the title needs a whole lot more definite words to make a connection with the picture.

Hmmm...I thought it was an "abstraction of self" because it's kinda abstract and there's a reflection of what I presume to be the OP in the window. I still don't really "get it" but...yeah.

I guess what I really mean isn't that I don't "get" it, but that it doesn't have a very strong impact on me. For one thing, the reflection is simply not strong enough, as evidenced by the fact that many aren't even seeing it. There's also some other glare and reflection that detracts from the abstract image itself, imo, and that large white screen on the right side that cuts into your reflection just really breaks down the power of the abstract for me. Without the white area, I think the abstract would be much stronger. What if you were to shoot this so that your reflection was over on the left side, in the space between the shorter tubes and the stuff hanging from the top, and then crop that white thing on the right out entirely?

I'll give this a try next time I'm there, probably in a couple of week's time. Just hope they haven't changed the window's contents too much by then!

This is your assertion based on your ignorance of what the title refers to. If it helps to throw a little light on the matter at hand in this image, as the hints and clues I've generously supplied you with thus far have found no germ in your mind, another title I considered was A Representation of the Artist as an Expression of Will.

However, this seemed a little long and so I opted for brevity over clarity.

Firstly: Your assumption that I am trying to make something from nothing by attaching an overblown title is incorrect. The title I have chosen for this piece has a connection to its content; that you (or that others also perhaps) cannot see or make this connection does not alter the fact.

Secondly: To say that the title any piece is given will not affect its meaning is a non sequitur. Even calling something untitled has an effect on how this will be received. Words are arbitrary, titles are not.
