Anhinga

The bird is awesome but the background hypersaturation is so distracting...

I agree with Trever, the background is very very powerfully vibrant. I would consider lowering the saturation and vibrancy of it just a little so that its no longer overpowering the dark main subject. I'd also consider cropping a little off the left side - you have left space in the beak direction (often seen as the eye direction with birds) to "move into" however the eye of the bird is very firmly looking AT the viewer and if you crop the left so that the wing to edge distance is the same as it is on the right I think you'd have a very good frame result.

^+1 to what Trever and Overread said. I *love* the bird, and I even love the colors of the background, I just think they're too oversaturated and bright and they draw attention away from that stunning Anhinga. They are some ugly, ugly birds but I can't help myself...I think they are cool as all get out. :D
