Few questions are you using Lightroom or Photoshop?
Second, Highpass or Vibrance for the glow? I like the way you approached the processing!

Although this does not work for every picture...I did a high pass at 4px and set blend mode to vivid light at 70%. Merged layer and reduplicated. Another high pass at 6px and set blend mode to color at 40%. Merged layers. Dodged and burned shadows and highlights to make them look more prominent.
