Any good, or cheap and nasty?

Hi,

I am looking at this background on FleaBay. I jave NO knowledge of backgrounds at all, except that I probably need one at some point so I don't have to rely on creased bed-sheets!

Is this going to be ok, or is it a pile of cheap rubbish?

I dunno...but do you notice the relatively narrow width of 1.5 meters (AKA 5.28 feet)???
That is a narrow background for many subjects...a nine foot wide backdrop is sooooooo
much more versatile. A background that is only 1.5 meters wide ends up allowing the shooting area walls or the light stands to show up in the background of many photos.

Now, if you are photographing small objects, still life scenes,babies,small kids, and simple headshots, a 1.5 meter wide backdrop is not that big of a problem, but with a group of four adult people, it'll become a problem. Quickly.
