Any reason NOT to go with D7000?

The Canon 7D is a fine fine camera and one you will enjoy immensely, I even considered getting one myself when I had a Nikon D40. It was the only camera Canon had that may of swayed me away from Nikon, great build quality and amazing features. It seems to have all you could need in a camera apart from a full frame sensor! I am sure you will be very happy with it.

The only issue that scared me away from it was the shadow banding issue which Canon still seem to not be eliminating, but then again I mainly shoot scenes with high dynamic range so to me the banding issue was an issue. If this is not the sort of photography you do then you will face no problem or you can simply bracket three shots to get an HDR image.

I shot about 200 frames yesterday after I got home lol, just messing around with it, nothing serious. I am going to really enjoy shooting again, and glad I picked up a camera I can learn from and grow into. I'll do a little bit of scene shooting so we shall see how that goes, and I have been loving the HDR images, seems to be the "cool thing on the block" to do now haha

I'm still trying to figure out what my favorite type of photography is, so I'll be all over I'm sure lol

Only other thing to mention is consider picking up a flash if you like people shots... the Canon 7D was one of the first Canon DSLRS to have wireless commander mode, which means you can use flash in the more simplistic way. So you can do TTL with the 7D quite easily and to some people buying flashes is more important than buying lenses. Just another point to consider and another way to spend more money wisely..

sweet, thanks, a flash is something i have been looking at as well. a friend of mine runs a small wedding photo gig and i may be a second shooter for him a few times, will need a flash for that I'm sure

Used D90 and spend the rest on good glass and lighting.

D80 and spend the rest on good glass and lighting.

Upgrade your body next year with a used D600 as many a fauxtog will return them when their businesses fail.....

You will love your D7000. I have 2 in my bag and these puppies are pretty damn good cameras for the price.
These where all taken with d7000 and various lenses.

Tamron 17-50 non VC. at 50mm

Nikon 50mm 1.8 D

Sigma 70-200 hsm II at 185mm

nikon 85mm 1.4 G

Tamron 17-50 F2.8 non VC at 42mm.

Anyways, just ordered the battery grip & extra battery from B&H just now, they had the best price. Will probably look into a flash next paycheck, already dropped enough cash as it is :meh: lol but well worth it, well well worth it.


and this camera feels really solid too, feels soo good to hold. i thought i loved my T1i, that thing is tiny and a wimp compared to this 7D haha

I love my D7000. It can do waaaaay more than I can do. No complaints at all.

I have the 35. Its good. Nothing to write home about and it's my least used lens. The reason I dont use it much is that I have a lens with over lapping range. Before that, it never left my camera.On the plus side, it's light, pretty sharp, and it's CA issues can be fixed in post production.
