While I like the picture, I think that the brightness of the street and the area around the corner hurts.
I think dropping that down a bit, really allows the eye to see the composition better.

I do prefer the second shot. I like b&w that are more contrasty. Great shot though, nice composition.

I take it then you are not a fan Ilford HP5.

For the record, I do not use "film presets" in my B&W conversions. Just in case that was a dig in that regard.
If instead you're just saying you dislike the conversion, that's cool. I know you shoot film and have commented that you like a couple things I've done but felt they were too digital.

I would like to hear what you would do different (honestly - not being a jerk)
