Exactly correct! Added a second shot from the same location. Think I may like the first one better, but both are fun.

Yes the first one for sure. I think it's the lighter trees and the fact that you can see the road in the distance.

I concluded the same initially but I keep looking at that second one...

On #1, the road looks somewhat straight, but the rocks make me wonder if the image needs to rotate a tad counterclockwise.
