B-day is a week away but I had a friend call this morning asking me to shoot a house that he is listing. I've been looking at ultra wide lenses just for this and landscape but haven't pulled the trigger because of all the choice and my lack of money.

Well I went to the local camera store this morning with intent to rent one for 3-days. Well they had a Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 EX Aspherical IF and the price was really good. I shot a few test images as I thought about it. After thinking, I decided to trade in my nifty fifty and get it. When I got home to confess to my wife, she was actually understanding and then said it could be for my birthday next week. SCORE!! Here are a some shots from near the shop where I HAD to stop and shoot with it. Got lucky and got a train as it was passing through town.

1) Yukon's best flour plant. It's an icon in Yukon, OK.

2) Cropped in tighter (in post) and converted to B&W.

3) The full building from what seemed like right underneath or next to it.

4) Then the train came through town.

5) With all the smoke and just a little further down the tracks.

I kind of like the second one, the close-in B&W shot.

Me too, but the wife said it looked washed out. I was "working" the scene as Scott Kelby says. I was having a little fun really quick with it. Landscape photos to come later. (got to go shoot them.)

im with derrel followed by probably the last photo then photo three.
I like the building, the third shot with the ground seems to give it more scope, but the bw is more artistic. wish any of them you could see the sign clearly on the roof but I imagine the building wouldn't look as substantial if you gained enough distance for that..

Yeah, i stepped to the other side of the tracks to shoot it to get that sign but they didn't look as good. I've taken some with a 28-135mm of the building from further away and got the sign. I may have to go back in the evening or night and get the sign lit up.
