While fences usually detract from shots like this, I think the fence works this time, because it's kinky lines echo the kinky hair of the Baboon/Mandrill.

Bitter Jeweler, I usually agree with your CC's, but I just can't this time. It just doesn't work for me. Less DOF would have been the answer.

Will be trying my "luck & limited skills" at animal photography at some local petting zoos and aquariums now that the decent weather is here.

Interesting beast...The fence does not bother me at all. I would maybe had a little sharpening though as it is a bit soft.

It's incredible how hard these are to photograph... Been to the zoo a couple of times in the last days, and had a really hard time doing it... This is a very nice pic!
