F:/9 1/2000 ISO 640, +.7 EV Light wasn't the worst, but wasn't the best and I shot off the hip after tracking a hawk. I probably would have gone to some different settings, but hey...turned out okay :048:

Yea, turned out o.k....geez.
I really like the feather detail in his body and of course that it is incredibly sharp!
So the +7 ev meant it was darker and wasn't getting feather detail so you lightened it?
Was this the 150-600?

200-500 Nikkor. Previously, I had been shooting fast moving back lit birds, thus the +.7 EV. Given the time, and given the BG, I likely would have gone the other way but I find in general I tend to leave it at +.7 f:/9 tends to be the sweet spot for this lens as it gives as you pointed out, nice detail.
