beginner here! need camera advice

Hey im just started out in photography and want a little advice on what you guys think

i recently worked with lifetouch school photography and used a nikon d90 and was thinking about purchasing one of my own. however im thinking if i wanted to work as a 2nd shooter or be an assistant would that camera be up 2 par. thankssss. i dont have millions of bucks but im willing to to make sacrifices if itll help me out in the future!
