Best Budget Compact Camera for Close Up Face Photos

Hi, I am dentist looking for the best budget compact camera for close up face photos.

I am a newbie in this subject. I am always taking close up photos of my patient´s smile with my phone (the photos are taken indoors, in my office), but now, I want to upgrade the quality of my work photos.

I am looking for a camera that can boast definition and clarity. Can you guys help me pick one?

Can’t suggest camera as I have never tried that sort of photo but whatever you get think about having a uv filter on the lens.... all those people exhaling on the lens .... if it were me I would want enough to cover a days work so I can clean them later.

A 50mm would work fine for these. And probably some sort of flash too.

A closeup taken with a typical wide angle lens distorts facial features. Not so good.

If this is a "portrait" style photo, then instead of a "closeup", use a good portrait lens, taken from the appropriate distance (several feet away), and cropped to the proportions you want. You'll get much better photos, which your patients will appreciate.

Now on the other hand, if you're talking about detailed photos of teeth and gums within the mouth, then you need a lens that will focus up close. These are called "macro" or "micro", and will focus up close. Then you need to properly light your subject using a special micro flash.
