~ BEWARE THE WEASEL ~

~ Beware The Weasel ~ As I was photographing this Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus), I recalled the time I observed a weasel exiting a hole in an old stonewall whilst carrying a freshly killed chipmunk. Aware of my presence, the weasel retreated back into the cavity in the wall and I waited it out in hopes of another glimpse of this illustration of the food chain in action. I waited patiently and saw the weasel exit once again and still carrying the chipmunk in its mouth. The weasel ran approximately 15 feet with its prey and one again entered a hole in the wall. Pondering that which I had just witnessed, I considered my great fortune to have observed what likely very few others have. I love my times spent in the natural world and the spectacular wonder presented.

Ah! Cute shot! I've never even seen a weasel in person and rarely any chipmunks so you are fortunate, indeed. I don't imagine you have many gators in New England which makes me fortunate, also.
