Maybe the raw edges of the "window" distracs the eye too much. When I look at the picture I feel that my eyes scroll around because of that. On the other hand: now I am looking att the picture om a small tablet. Last time, I looked att it in a much larger screen. That is, om a small screen I see the whole view within a very narrow angle, which means more attention from the edges than when looking att it at close distanse on a larger one.
Maybe a little too complex thinking here...
