1. The only thing i see wrong wit this pic is DoF (or slow shutter since the butterfly was moving) and the subject is too centered... perhaps frame it to the left more?

2. this one maybe the open space around the subject? idk... the aperture is wide open in this one ...

#1. You need to crop out the distracting background on the left. More DOF on the butterfly would be better ... though not too much or you will start getting the background in focus. Probably better as a vertical shot.

#2. This would have been better with a closer shot of the butterfly.

you need to get a lot closer in both of them
and if your camera/lens cant do that, then dont shoot them

lovely small creature and i think they are beautiful if you get your camera more closer.

1. get rid of the whole lime-green left side. That'll also take care of the centeredness of the bug. And I think it was dof rather than slow shutter that messed up that wing.

2. Nicer, but the butterfly is too small in the frame. Get closer or crop it smaller. Also, see if you can bring out some detail in the black of the wings.
