Nice... those are all monarchs. (it's a running joke around my house that any butterfly, moth, bee, bumblebee, anything flies by, I say to my wife, "that's a monarch" we even have monarch gnats)

Thanks, the last one was a rare visitor and didn't land much, it was the best I could get, wasn't thrilled with the composition but it is what it is.

i know i have not got many butterfly shots that i like. i usually scrap them lol.. there is something about the last one i do not like. its a good photo but just not appealing to me for some reason lol...

Me too. It's the composition, not balanced. However, I may be able to do something with it when I get home.

Nice Monarchs.

But the second, IIRC, is a Painted Lady.

Next time you want to shoot butterflies, come on over. We have planted butterfly attracting plants and have them all year round. Sulphurs, Whites, Morning Cloaks, Painted Ladies, Swallowtails, Fritillaries, Monarchs, et cetera. Kick back in the patio, drink some wine and shoot some butterflies ... Drink more wine ... Think about shooting more butterflies ...
