I just recently purchased this camera so i decided to do a test run. Aside from a very distracting background, What do you think that i need to eliminate?

lets not discuss about lens IQ. As you can see, there are double imaging/chromatic aberration

I don't own a macro lens, but from what I've read the best way to get your entire subject in focus, rather than thru the use of aperture, is to focus stack. Since you're already at f/22, you're not going to be able to go up any further in order to try and get the rest of the bug in focus. I think the purple flower makes a great color to shoot that cricket on though.

great idea! i was going to do that but it was windy. even with a tripod the flower is just not showing a permanent position. thanks anyway!
