Too much happening. Doesn't make sense. Like with the couple.. With swirls..

The couple looks shopped in, IMO. Around the bottom of her dress it's quite apparent, but it's just too sharp against the background.

The couple is cool, but the swirling jeans. Plus yeah, the people looked photoshopped. You might want to do that again.

The masking of the old photo is poor. I seriously doubt that their bodies had sharp corners.

Simply taking an image and putting a backdrop of swirls and little pictures of jeans does not make it about the jeans. Not only is the Photoshop work lacking but the whole image fails to tell any story imo.

did you even read the rules?

Choose one of the famous images posted on our website, and reinvent it using denim in the image.

Photography should serve as the main medium for this project. Other mediums can be used with the photography however. For example, you can digitally manipulate, collage, paint, etc…

The prize for this round of submissions is $500 and will be announced, December 22nd.

the contest says a few things that you seem to have entirely ignored.

first, reinvent it using denim. i dont think they meant poorly copy and paste someone elses original work onto an unrelated backdrop.

secondly photography should serve as the main medium. it does say you can manipulate the photo but their main focus wants to be on the photography work. to be honest im not surprised you skipped right past that or chose to ignore it and went right into photoshop.

lastly, work must be 100% original. you did not take that photo of the sailor kissing the woman. i do not think you were supposed to take a famous picture and abuse it with photoshop.

finally the last bit says

Be creative, but don't stray too far off. Someone should be able to view your art and see a smart relation between it and the image you choose to reinvent

i dont see any relation of the jeans to the image. do you? if so please explain, i'm clearly missing it.
