Nice photo! White animals like this can be a little bit of a nightmare to expose but you've caught the shot well! Also shown off the fuzzy/furrynes of its body and head

Although interesting to point out there is no such thing as a cabbage white butterfly. However white butterflies (the world over it seems) are oft called cabbage-white. If you do some googling you might well find an ID website for your state that could give you an idea of what species it is .

Thank you. I get lucky about every 400 shots.

.. if they don't get killed by the freezing cold in May.

Nice photo. Over here they're easy to capture becz they're frozen to the plants still. :)
Lol. Yeah, how did like the snow storm Sunday?

Nice (another) ... very good detail in the wings. We have 'Whites' out here also.
Tganks. I wish I could figure out how to do this consistently with this SX60HS. Hit or miss. I think it's my trembling hands. I hate to lug around a tripod.

Talk us through how you took the shot - what body position were you in; how did you hold the camera; etc....

Program mode, evaluative meter, spot focus, -.03 EC . left and right elbow tucked into belly, deep breath, farted...

A SX60HS ... man that is a monster of a P&S. Practice works for shooting very long. A mono is easier to lug than a tri. Breathing control helps, hold the camera very firmly, squeeze don't slam the shutter release button, tuck in the elbows, left hand under the camera body and lens, or try shooting off the elbow ... hold your left arm up as if you're holding a cape across your face (ala Dracula) and cradle the lens in the crook ... for starters. But nothing beats practice.

PS- Time the shutter to release at the end of the fart not the start. (Easier to maintain one's balance.)

TMI man .. TMI

no wonder the butterfly didn't move. It was probably about to die on the spot.
