It's not terrible, by any means. The effects of aperture are fine for exposure, but your examples reveal almost nothing about the effects on depth of field.

Also, I think it's pretty hard to understand what's going on unless you know how to use a camera in the first place.

Thank you for your opinion. Only the first simulation allows you to play with aperture and I think you are right! The background doesn't help to see the effect on dof. The other two simulations give you the opportunity to play with light setup... If you don't know how to use a camera and a flash doesn't matter! Play with it!
