Went out again today, wish the sky had been a bit more cooperative, but got some alright shots.

These were by the National Theatre. Would have been nice to know a bit more about BMX so that I'd be able to time the shots better, but it's good practice so I'm a little beter prepared to take wakeboarding (which at least I know so timing will be easier) shots :)

And a busker in Covent Garden. He was a pretty good guitarist and singer, so couldn't resist taking a shot.

Always grateful for any C&C.

I love love number 3, great capture!

I like all of them really, all seem to have some interest in one way or another. Good job!

I love the Bmx pictures! You can definitely tell what tricks the riders are doing, which is the hardest part! Kudos for that, all; the other pictures look fantastic as well, keep up the great work!

Thanks for the comments :)

DisasterDan, would you be able to tell me what the tricks I shot are called? I have next to no idea about BMXing - I was trying to use the other sports I did to guess when something would happen :blushing:

I'm seeing exactly why the camera companies can charge up to an order of magnitude more for the pro bodies, and even the 2-3x for the semipro ones - it's not so much the IQ (except for the FF ones) or that you can do a whole lot more, it's that it would make doing those things you already do so much easier, which means you have more time to focus on what's in front of you.

That said, it seems the gear lust I have is expressing itself in lenses :p Gonna have to stay (mostly) dry a litle longer.

Any suggestions composition wise? I'm wondering how the second shot might have been if following the curve of the bridge more, and had an idea for abstracting the blue lights suggested to me.

I think they all turned out great! Great color, and the b&w guitarist is great. I like the grafitti on the cieling in the 3rd bmx shot, I just wish framing was pushed a little more left, so that the biker wasn't on the edge of the picture.

Me too. I had just shot another rider and had to rush the camera into position to shoot. That was the other bit about this that was fun - deciding who to shoot and when, as there was a fair bit going on.

Good shots mate. Nice to see some good local images.

BMX:

Photo one - Tailwhip
Photo two - Barspin
Photo three - Footjam tailwhip

All really good shots, like the BMX ones seeing as thats what I'm interested in!

I think with the BMX ones, they work better when you can see their face, I personally don't really like "ass shots".

Good photos though for sure!

Thanks for the names - seems like kitesurfing where the names fit what's actually happening. I'm agreed on seeing the faces - gives more information (are they having fun, was the trick easy for them, did they nearly faceplant ) and it's nice to see who it is you're watching.
Thanks again for the comments.

Yeah the names tend to fit, but then it gets confusing when they start doing 360 flip tailwhip barpsin no handers and you look at the photo and wonder which way was actually up!
