Hi All,

having used a Nikon D70 SLR for a few years with no problems I recently had a need for a handy compact camera to carry with me to grab opportunist shots to support some of my article writing for an angling publication.

I settled on a Canon G11 mainly due to the flip around screen that makes self take shots of fish captures really easy. I also purchased an additional booklet on how to get the most from the G11.

The first thing I wanted to do was disable was the continuous auto focus, the facility to do this does not appear in the camera settings menu.

The second thing I wanted to do was shoot in raw format there is no option to select this in the picture file quality selection menu.

The operating system firmware appears to be different to the one in the 'how to book' and manual yet I've checked on the camera that it is the version they're using in the book/manual and it is.

I know the prefered option would be to contact canon support, or download the firmware from their website and reinstall it. Have you tried using their site lately? It is not an option as anyway I try it displays an error message in the support menus and there is no option for downloading the latest version/ updates of the operating system.

Can anybody shed any light on this I need to crack on with using my camera and to be honest the results in jpeg format especially in low light are no where near the required quality for reproducing in print. I am feeling rather underwhelmed by my whole canon experience to date:thumbdown:
Cheers

Mark
