Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
So I was reading about Kodak's Kodachrome and came across a bunch of photos by a Chalmers Butterfield, but when I google the name all I get are links to his photos. Does anybody know who this person was and why there's so much of their work around but not a lot of information? He seems to have photographed a lot of places...

Cheers.

No one wrote anything about him anywhere in the net. Why ? Your guess is as good as mine.

You could try looking up London newspapers from c1949 but that would probably be time-consuming and not necessarily easy to do online (depending on if they have editions in online archives going back that far), and that's just a possibility that he might have been on staff or worked a 'stringer' for a newspaper.

I'm wondering if he could have had photos in magazines in the UK from that time period because if his photos are in the public domain they probably were published. Since the photos are credited to him I would think they might have been in a publication that gave photo credits.

I thought about looking up in magazines and newspapers but really his photos don't seem like the kind of photos magazines would publish because the style seems to be different to what magazines would publish, if you know what i mean. looks more like the work of an independent photographer, someone who isn't taking photos specifically to be published in magazines, etc... not sure i'm making sense..

I saw one photo he did in the late 1940's, as part of movie stills for a big studio picture...perhaps he was one of the many hard-working, relatively unknown photographers whose career never made it to the level of being featured in magazines or articles??? Back in those days, the cult of celebrity was limited to VERY few people...today, in the world wide web era, it';s possible to find write-ups on relatively unknown people, people who decades ago never, ever would have gotten any "ink".
