Cheetah and 5 cubs

After a gestation period of around 3 months a cheetah can give birth to up to nine cubs. Unfortunately it’s common for 70% of her litter to be killed by hyenas and other predators. On most safaris I see an average of three occasionally four. Last month while leading a photo tour in the mara we were privileged to come across this family five. One cub had reportedly been lost a few weeks before but the remaining five looked healthy an playful

Excellent! The cheetahs were definitely one of the high points of my trip, but I never saw anything like this.
