First of all...thoroughly underwhelming show. Virtually no new models and almost everything was just a cosmetic upgrade from 2010. About the only "new" bike I saw was Kawasaki's new Z1000X (which, I'm guessing, is supposed to replace the ZZR-series sport touring bikes? Not sure about that but seems likely). Pretty sad. Anyway, took some pictures and wanted to share a few.

The lighting was terrible, and there were more people in the show than an Aerosmith concert so it was really hard grabbing shots without people in front of, on top of, or behind the bikes. Lemme know what you think of a few of them. I know there are a lot for C&C but I also just wanted to show people some of the bikes

Oh, and they had a ton of inferior bikes too, but there was too much chrome and mediocrity to photograph them properly.

All the shots are great !
Makes me want to get a R1, or CBR even more now! :(

But what i always wanted to try with car/bike shows. is a long shutter speed and having the people in the back with motion blur. I always thoguht that would look cool. i think imma give it a try at the DC auto show.

Thanks for the compliment on the shots! I used to race for Kawasaki and since quitting have ridden Yamaha exclusively, but sold my bike in October because I was shipping out. Now I'm back and wanna get a bike but going to wait until Spring. I just really don't like some aspects of the new R1s...the gas tank is way too thin for the rest of the body IMO. I still love it and probably will get one =P

And that's a fantastic idea about slow-shutter...you'll probably need a ND filter though since the shows are usually bright enough to warrant it. Even if you ramp it up to f/11 (which you probably won't want to do in a shot like that) and ISO100 you'll still need somethin else to help. Great idea though...I know the auto show's coming here sometime soon heh

Eleven images is way to many to be asking for C&C.

Sharing is one thing, asking for C&C on that many is absurd - unless you're willing to pay for the time it would take. ;)

11. yet another picture of a bike.

No interesting angles, no interesting closeups, no interesting backgrounds.

Well most of it is just sharing, but I don't think asking for C&C on 11 is absurd by any means...was only going for stuff like "too dark", "too bright", "there's a guy getting mugged in one"...stuff like that.

And to the last reply...err what? Did you not see "Motorcycle Show" in the title? Wasn't quite able to take the bikes to a secluded area with the background I specified. C&C is what I hope for...but C&C within context is much more useful (since I don't have any power over the background, and can't get really great with angles since it's all a very congested area). If I would have had the ability to get those things I would have loved it...but unfortunately the manufacturers are somewhat stingy with letting me take their $10-$15k bikes to another place for a photoshoot.

Who said anything about taking the bikes anywhere? It seems like you were able to get up close to and walk all around them. Show us something interesting, examples; the front brake assembly, the headlamp, the tires. What I like to do it think about what I find interesting about a subject, and show that, just that.

You could have posted one photo and just said "The other 10 look like this but with different colored bikes"

My buddy went there today, i wanted to come but i had to work, some sick bikes.

Ya quite a bit...just too bad not much of a change from last year.

And Mr.Pink I get what you mean but the motorcycle show's about seeing the new models and such...the brakes are the same on every single bike. I could have gotten more artistic, true, but the actual bikes (in their entirety) is much more appealing to me than the angles and parts. Doing a shoot on *my* bike I would do that stuff though.

Also, didn't mean to be rude in my previous post. If I was I'm very sorry.
