Comparable camera to the D90?

Hi, I'm looking to purchase a new camera, I had the D90 for almost 3 years and had to sell it last year and just now in the position to buy another camera. I was curious what DSLR out there is comparable to the D90, either in Nikon or Canon? I don't want to go down in quality but then again I can't afford a Canon 7D either. Thank you.

If you like the D90, you can find them refurbished/demo with Nikon inspection for around $650 (or still get them new for around $800).

Otherwise, the newer, better model (that is not a step down) is the D7000, which I think is around $1200. It gets great reviews.

Thanks I will have to check that one out, I looked at the Canon 60D and it seemed nice, but going to check out the D7000 with all the thumbs up on here!

I had a D90 and recently sold to get a D7000. I am very pleased with the upgrade. That being said you can get new or refurb D90s at great prices. Either way you are likely no worse off that when you sold your D90 in the past.
