I hate it when someone steals my ideas.
I was just leaving the grocery store when I noticed these great looking clouds drenched in the golden glow of the sunset. But my lens was too short and the parking lot didn't offer any decent compositions, so I drove toward the clouds hoping to find what I needed.
The high school is across the street from the store and beyond that is the school's football field, then a parking lot. It was empty. I pulled my minivan in, got out, got my camera and checked the settings while leaning into the open side door to keep warm. Just as I turned around to take my first shot, another car pulls in, then another and another.
I ignored them all and started shooting the clouds east of the sunset, then turned and shot some in the direction of the sunset. That's when I saw that everyone was sitting in their cars and taking pictures with their smartphones. I'm out there in the freezin'-ass cold with my cannon (not Canon), a Nikon D810 and Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR FX. Am I the idiot?
A couple of my sunset pictures were good enough for facebook, but this one of another "photographer" is my favorite of all the pics I made and I think it fits perfectly with the theme of this forum.
Shot at 70mm, f/4.5, 1/80s, ISO 800.
Thanks for letting me share my vision.

PS: This woman is actually an acquaintance of mine and I dare not tell her I'm making fun of her here.
