The cormorants still didn't feel like posing close enough for me today, but I caught them using a narrow area by a point as an in and out to the cove, so I set up a trap there and got a few decent in flight shots. Then about a mile down from there, I got the heron catching a crayfish.

That cormorant is an interesting looking bird. wow.

Your Cormorants are totally different to ours with the colours around the eyes and that wonderful black. That second shot with that wingspread showing up so well is a killer of a shot !!. Fantastic in flight shots of those Cormorants. Bang on details and timing. Nice catch with the Heron doing what they do best. Well caught.

All the best.

Danny.

The second one is perfect.. Amazing blue eyes! What gears did you use?

I'm sorry, I'm not quite understanding what you are asking?

Thank you all.

I think Raj wants to know what your setup is.

That second cormorant shot is just Outstanding!

And yes, I think Raj wants to know what camera gear you used for these. Though to be fair, I often feel like I'm in first gear, trying to shoot birds that are blazing by me in fifth gear! :D

The Camera was a Nikon D3200 and the lens my Sigma 70-300mm.

Yea don't knock the little D3200 it has a very good sensor and is more then capable of pro level images and IMO is what you got on cormorant #2 Great Job. BTW the cormorants don't look like that around here either.

The cormorants here also have the same blue inside their mouths/throats as their eye color. I do think their eyes are about the most unique eye I have seen out of any creature. The also have beautiful plumage they can flair out from their heads. I know JacaRanda has gotten much better shots of them actually displaying.
