I like the texture of the garlic skin and the overall tone of the image.

I would have used a bit more DOF to get both heads in focus, crop a bit wider to get them complete and look for a simlpe background (of the same tones).

I had the same thought, a little bit more in focus. I think I'd try b&w, too.

I think it would be better if you move the other onions back a little bit so they go more out of focus... so the small onion will catch my eye more.

Agree with the above. A bit of each is in focus, if this was intentional then well done. Peronsally i would have one in focus and use the DOF to background the other
