Photos NOT OK to edit
I have the opportunity to buy a very lightly used 3400 with 2 lenses for $250 from a guy at work who's eager to sell
Would you do it?

Why or why not?

meh. which lenses? the 18-55 and 55-200?

It's a nice sensor...

the body is the lowest model level and lacks a lot and those lenses are just okay. I'd say it could make a nice travel camera, but I vacation with my D610 and/or D800...

I don't really need it. I guess I was just wondering if it was too good to pass up

Assuming it's not hot, or "grey market", then it's a good price for what it is.

What it is, of course, is one of Nikon's "entry level" cameras, with the same lenses that came packaged with it when new.

If you have the money, and some specific plan for it, then sure, buy it. Since you already own a D610, you might consider the D3400 to be either your travel camera, or a gift to someone who doesn't already own a camera.
