I've previously wanted a Nikon 18-200mm for my Nikon D60 camera. But many people on here have told me the lens is pretty disappointing and only good for holiday shots where the distortion isn't a big problem. Plus it isn't that fast or work that well in low light.

So now..I am considering getting a

Tamron 28-75mm Aspherical + a Nikkor 70-300mm VR

OR

Nikon 18-200mm VR

Is the first combo a better choice?

I know I like the Tamron 28-75mm lens for dog photography and slightly low light settings. Plus the 70-300 for zoom.

Anyone know if the 70-300mm makes the camera wayyy too front heavy?

And how would you compare the picture quality of the 70-300 and the 18-200?

I have the Tamon, Canon version, and I love the lens. Its autofocus is a bit slow, but as I'm doing mainly portraits and nothing really fast moving, its easy to work with. A great bang for the buck.

Not sure about your other lenses. I know someone here is selling an 18-250 that has produced some amazing shots. Check out the buy/sell section.
