This was so unusual to see.. Cedar Waxlings flock in a tree during March 2014 blizzard... I appreciate being in the right place at the right time.. all the elements were against me getting a good picture.. but in the end it was the subjects that made the difference..do you agree.? $birds_004.webp

Nice. Makes think of Angry Birds, lol.
if they are angry... I don't blame them one bit.. I am not so happy either.. lol.......... thanks

I also have a question for the bird watchers..did you ever see a flock of these birds.. I have never seen this before.. most I have seen together is a pair.. there were at least 30 in this tree...

First - nice shot. I have only seen cedar waxwings once in my life and there were at least three dozen or more. it was unbelievable! My husband and I were walking a back trail at a nearby lake and we rounded a bend and froze as we watched this huge flock in amazement.....and of course I didn't have my camera. First last and only time I've ever seen any.

This is the one I had in mind. Pretty close! And it was definitely the snow that makes me assume your birds are angry, lol.

Yes, they are often in large flocks around here. I've seen as many as 200-300 of them in one place before. It's a stunning sight!
They are one of my very favorite songbirds--so elegant and sleek looking.

The snowstorm we had a couple of weeks ago also brought a flock of them in to our downtown area where I work. I posted a thread about it, here.

those photos were awesome....thanks very much for telling me..

Yup, there is always a flocking lot of them :)

I was a little worried that my timing would be off to catch any of them this year. However, luck has been on our side. They have made themselves readily available for the last month or so.

Very hard to tell what they are when backlit.

Here is some nice info. Cedar Waxwing, Identification, All About Birds - Cornell Lab of Ornithology
