Hey fellow TPF'ers and Divers! I need some advice. I know there is quite a bit of divers on the forum but not sure how much they have traveled to dive. I'm studying abroad in Australia for a few months and I am looking for some recommendations on the diving locations. I am studying in Brisbane, so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to travel but if anyone has been over there and recommends a dive site I would love to here from you!

I'm Replying to this to try and give it a "Bump " for you . I do Dive ,and have been abroad several times just to dive ,BUT ,Not down-under . Thus I personally can't help with that area . Hawaii or most anywhere in the caribbean as well as just about every mud-puddle and larger on the South East coast of USA , I Could offer some help with . Good luck with you're search .........BUMP...........

A hotel pool? No way you'd catch me in Australia's oceans.

Thank you Hopdaddy! I only have had the experience to dive in Pa, Florida, and Aruba!

You will be just south of the Great Barrier Reef, shouldn't need to say much more about that since it is quite famous. If you have the time to make a trip to Western Australia, check out the Ningaloo Reef. It is supposed to be relatively untouched and amazing. I think at the right time of year you can swim with whale sharks as well.

Indonesia is pretty easy to get to from Australia as well

It really is worth going on a live-aboard multi-day dive boat to get out to less disturbed areas of the reef. I went with ProDive in Cairns and they were fantastic, but I'm sure there are other great operations in Brisbane.

I heard Cairns is absolutely beautiful! I'm driving up to the southern part of the reef to do two dives. Haven't decided yet. Also looked into the EX HMAS Brisbane

If you can, come over to Okinawa Japan. The diving hear is world class and year round. If you get here before March of 2015 I'd be more than happy to guide you around.

Another cool spot. Video is a little boring at first.
