Having a camera with a focus motor was not one of the criteria for getting this lens. Only that you already have a camera that the lens will fit on.

Like I said before I am up for any gear. I posted one of my photos in the General area. It is call Old Time Texas. Check it out and tell me what you think.My 50MM is the bomb but I would like to have more when my sons are in sports. Its hard getting shots with only a 50mm.

well, the point of me and my wife donating these lenses is that there might be people with a need for them, but without the financial means to purchase them. So we give them away, and cover the shipping costs so there is zero out of pocket expense to the recipient. this isn't about which lens you think is better, or what lens you want more.
It should not matter what lens we have plans to donate next. if you NEED this lens, ask for it, and don't worry what is coming next. if you are just throwing your name in the hat because it is free stuff, you are tainting the spirit of our donation, and we will discontinue any future plans of gear donations.

Well, with both my wife and I shooting we could use the extra lens. She recently was placed on forced unpaid leave by her company, way too long of a story.
We have a D80 and D5100. I know this will not work on the 5100, but since it will on the 80 it will allow her to use the this while I use the the 18-55 we already have. Our other lens are the 50 and 24-85. She is the portrait person where as I am the sports/landscape person.
Umm, we are starting out a small yet growing photo business and as always cash is tight so being able to pick up another lens in this range would be very helpful.

After careful consideration of the applicants, we have decided that DeltaNate is best suited for our 35-80 AF-D lens, as he currently has no zoom lens.
We appreciate everyone's efforts in making this donation a success, and we look forward to the next round of donations being equally successful.
