Donating Nikon 55-200 f4-5.6G

Pixmedic I get your point & get where your coming from and agree mostly but this story writing requirement was a bit difficult to wrap my head around. I do realize it's the op's decision to handle it anyway he wants but as I said this just seemed very childish to me.
Martin don't be perturbed, I'm probably the only man who sees it this way. Their is also no need to remove my name for I didn't write any story for your review :)
I don't think he meant literal storytelling. I just took it that way to be amusing, and perhaps a bit creative in my attempt to win this lens.
Either way, Martin's kind enough to donate his lens, and I don't think criticizing the way he does it is necessary.
Then again, to each his own.
I didn't think he meant literal story telling either !! After reading the first line of yours it was obvious you were attempting humor. I may be opinionated but I'm surely not stupid. With that being said though you understood he wanted a story, you just took the humor route, rather than the student or pity or etc., etc., etc..... Let's not make Martin a martyr here saying I can't criticize the way he's doing it. Seems like the only reason this lens is being given away is because he received it's upgrade and promised to give it away if he won it. So let's keep everything in it's proper perspective. Lastly you stated to each his own ... 100% correct!

I think the proper perspective here is that Martin said that he would donate his non-VR lens if he was given the VR version, and now he shows us that he is a man of honor by keeping his word. I don't think acknowledging the fact that he kept a promise made on an anonymous internet forum is making him a martyr.

As Martin already stated, he is simply re-donating the lens in the same manner it was donated to him.
The forum has seen several different types of donations, from random number generators, to "first one to post wins", and ones where the OP just wants a little background information to make a more personal decision. I don't really think there is a right/wrong way to do this, but im sure there are plenty of people here that have their own opinions on how these things should be done.

I do however, think that this very generous donation thread has gotten a bit off track, and we should let it get back to its original purpose of finding a lens a new home.

My next donation I'm requiring a social security number from each hopeful person.

Sad thing is... most of us here would probably give it to you.

Hope im not to late .... I just got into the world of photography. Mostly to take photos of my baby girl instead of going to sears. Since I got my d5200 i take it every were I go to a lot of car shows and motorcycle shows. At the moment im limited to the kit lens and a 35mm I borrow from a friend from time to time. so I would really enjoy this lens to see wat I can shoot with a bot more zoom.

Thanks

MonicaRuth send me the shipping info for your new lens.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Unfortunately there's only one lens.

Man.... I thought for sure my cross-universe story would win.

Congrats MonicaRuth!

In all honesty it was a difficult decision. What won it for MonicaRuth was the mention of school. At my age (geezin') I'm trying to find time and money to return to school after 30 years absent from a class room and understand being broke all the time and actually needing something vs. just wanting it.
