I would have used a hot shoe flash off the camera hand held high and at a lower than full power setting with the flash unit set to a wide angle zoom setting to light the dock & boats a bit.

They are having some kind of an issue with a certain type of mussel and leaving the boat hulls in the sun seems to help kill the seedlings (larvae-eggs-whatever they're called). You can't put a boat (any kind) without a thorough inspection.
