Editing help needed

I am trying to remove the golden band from the middle ground of the image, but I am not having much luck with cloning and other various tools. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how I can remove this area from this image?

What are you using to edit it with? In Lightroom, you could go to the HSL and use the picker and desaturate that part (might work)

But my real question is why? I just clicked that image and I like it as is.

I'm using Photoshop CS6. I find it distracting, and it isn't part of my vision for this image.

I'm sure that with CS6 there is a way to remove that color. I use LR4 and PSE 11, so I can't help much there, sorry.

I'd like for it to look like the rest of the water.

I did this VERY fast.

But I just selected the area you wanted to remove, modified the edge to feather it in a bunch, then used the content-aware fill.

I then used the patch tool to clean up the areas where it didn't blend well and it resulted in this:



Like I said, I didn't spend very much time on it, but it gives you the idea.
