I just bought this lense yesterday before a wedding and I'm glad I did. But since I couldn't order it online after tax it came to like $380. I looked at the box and it said it was made in Japan. I'm wondering if I should return it and order the US one off B&H. Is it worth doing? Is there a big quality difference between the US and Japanese version? Thanks.

Are not all canon lenses made in japan? I think the ones sold in the UK are maybe the US has a Canon factory. I doubt there is any difference but I could be wrong. They will use the same materials to the same design and specifications unless its a different model.

Japan has a reputation for manufacturing some of the best optics in the world.

Made in Japan is what you want to see on your lens.

Canon has other factories, Taiwan for example, where they make some of their cheaper stuff.
