Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Welp, I just dropped it off.. my first entry in a photo contest.. Its just a local fair, and I saw some of the other entries, so far its just "mom snap shots" so who knows, maybe I have a chance.. theres also about 50 categories, and, at this point, I'm the only one with an entry in the "nostalgic farm equipment" category..

Anyways, heres the photo.. entries close tomorrow at 11am.. not sure when they are judged, but, I'll be sure to let you know how I do.

Kinda hard to get a real feel for the photo at this size.. it looks much better on the 8x10 that I printed out..

UPDATE: I got 3rd! Which I was happy about.. until I saw the 1st and 2nd photos.. and then a friend of mine asked the people putting on the contest how they picked the winner.. and it was as simple as "this lady (who was around 65 years old) walked around, and whatever photo she liked the most, won.. it had NOTHING to do with any technical sides of photography... so, that made me a little mad (inside) but, I took my 3rd place ribbon like a man.

Congrats!

Photopgraphy contests are the great equalizer. The judging standards vary wildly and, as you learned, often have nothing to do with what's really a good picture. There's a local one every year and the winner is usually a beach sunrise. Why? 2 of the judges really like beach sunrise pictures. Sigh...

Nice photo I liked it!

Ultimately, i like the idea that photos are not judged on their technical merit. In the end, is it pleasing to the eye or isnt it?

Great photo though...i liked it.

Congrats on your win! I really like your photo, it brings back memories; it looks like the front of a tractor my Uncle used to have many years ago. :)

Don't knock 65 years old. You'll be happy to get there unless you prefer the alternative!
